Hey guys, there seems to be a lot of useful knowledge floating around, so has any one turned the torsion bars up on a 00' 4x4 silverado? I already have 4" of body, but I want just a little more. Thanks guys

How does your truck sit in the front right now (level or lower)? You can add a couple of inches to the front by cranking on the torsion bars but you will be in for a stiffer ride. You might consider torsion bar keys ( also called a leveling kit) as an alternative that will give you up to 2-1/2" and still retain your factory ride comfort. You will also need longer shocks or shock extenders.

Thanks for the reply, BTW, nice truck! It sits level right now, I all about the easiest way, money isnt really an issue. I figure it will ride a little rougher but on the same hand if i was really worried about a smooth ride I wouldnt have a truck. My plans now are to turn it up 2" and possibly add coil spacers, then put blocks in the rear. Do you know who has the best quality for price shocks? Thanks again! Mike

You mentioned torsion bars, and coil springs so first determine which setup you have because it will have one or the other. I have a full 6" suspension lift and my truck actually rides nicer than stock so it is possible to have a lift without the stiffness. On a previous truck i maxed out the torsion bars and put an add-a-leaf in the rear so i could run bigger tires but I always hated the ride so I'm all about lifting it right.
Because you are sitting level now, you would have to add 1-2" blocks in the rear if you do anything to lift the front so it will be level. I know with adding the torsion bar keys you can run 33's so with your body lift you could easily put 35's on your truck. Check out suspensionmaxx.com.
As far as shocks go, there are a few premium brands that are affordable. Rancho is decent, Bilstein are top of the line.
