I'm thinking about spending a considerable amount of money upgrading my ignition system to MSD ignition coils and wires. The set of 8 coils costs about $715, and the wire set costs about $75. Does anyone have any opinions or experience with MSD ignition products? I've spoken to a couple of people that say MSD is a pretty good company and you get what you pay for. Do you think MSD would be a good investment in an ignition upgrade?? Thanks for you're time guys it'd really help me out in my decision.

I wouldnt bother spending $715 on ignition coils for a very mildly modified motor. Hell, I wouldnt even consider buying them for my cammed LS1. Get the wires though, your engine will run smoother and throttle response will get better.

Agreed, the wires are worth the investment. Unless you intend to do some extensives mods the coils
will not benefit, the stock ones will be sufficient enough. The $715 could be better invested until future
motor upgrades....

If the MSD kits for the GM V8 motors are like they are for the imports, there's different levels that you can get and not have to spend the $700+. I would get the wires though, those are next on my list.
I have heard alot of problems with MSD coils but their wires are good stuff..
I wont waste the time with the coils Stock coils are just fine..
Now their wires really wont net u any power but sometimes will improve idle and other things..
My 04 5.3 i had taylor 10.4's and wasnt impressed at all with the fit and finish and were too long and rubbed the headers i installed..(never burt them had ACCEL covers on them)
I then put MSD's on it and noticed a slighty smoother idle and way better fit and finish..
PLus their boots are bendable..
I i have MSD on my gto and like them alot.

I installed the MSD wires a few days ago and I did notice a smoother idle and better throttle response. Thanks for the inputs guys you helped out alot.

Sounds like you've gotten some improvement for your investment, good......

I would opt out of the coils, but definately put on agood set of wires. I was turned onto Aurora Plug Wires a few years ago by a top fuel racer that found the best longevity and performance from these. Apparently they use a condcutor twice the size of most and also stainless steel instead of copper. What this all boils down to is long life and better conduction of spark, I guess if the high HP guys notice a change it is a pretty good indicator. I did try them and I seem to feel a difference, also they always fit right, none of this "generic" crap. I bought my last 6.0L set at www.auroraignitionwires.com
