Default Volant CAI in my 2001 Suburban LT 1500 *PICS*

Just got done installing a new Volant cold air intake w/ their powershot filter into my 2001 Suburban LT 1500....install was pretty straight forward...I chose the Volant over the popular K&N for (3) main reasons:

    * You need to trim the radiator fan shroud for proper fittment of the intake tube with the K&N

    * The filter on the K&N is still pulling air from the engine compartment...and it is not really considered a CAI in my option...that small plastic wall I dont think blocks the engine bay temp, the air being sucked in is definitly warmer then other CAI's on the market.

    * The Volant looks pretty dam cool

    Here are some pics:

why yes, i do have to say that it does in fact look very cool. congrats, and nice pic.
but may i ask, other than the looks of this product and it looking to have a box, where does the air being pulled from? if from under the hood, how then is it any different than the k&n?
2000 silverado with a 5.3l v8, shorty headers, upgraded plugs, 10 mil wires, magnaflow high flow cats, flowmaster 80 series muffler(2 in 2 out) w/ 18 inch stainless silverline tips. i have a k&n CIA. its a 4x4 z71 offroad package. Ls model.

The box is only to enclose the filter and air from the heat of the engine bay. It actually pulls the air from the bottom of the box which actually has a direct path directly down to the ground so tit is not pulling engine bay temp air. Pretty neat setup...had to remove a metal plate with 5 bolts to open the intake path up for this box.

I would definitly recommend this intake, definitly woke up the engine...box says 22 hp and 4 mpg increase, not really sure what the increases are..well worth the money though.

Def. a performance increase. as well as a sound increase, and bling increase :-D I think CAI's are the best first mod to do to any vehicle....I have a full out 1994 trans am race car...best mod I did when the car was a street car is still a cold air intake

Looks great!! I have heard great things about Volant, but this is the first time I've seen a pic of an install. Very clean!
