i drive a1999 silverado 1500 and does it really matter if i put a body lift or a suspension lift on? what is the difference?
im pretty sure a suspension lift gives you more suspention travel and raises the truck to fit bigger tires while a body lift you keep stock travel, but it still gives you more room for bigger tires if thats what your looking to do. body lifts are usually cheaper.
92 k1500 chevy w/t 4x4 with a v6. glasspack. 8ft bed. regular cab.

The only thing a body lift does is raise the body off the frame a couple inches. So, it is a cheap way to gain those few extra inches to fit bigger tires and gives better approach and departure angles. It also looks ok too cuz now your truck is higher, but you can now see the frame a bit more under your truck.. However, they do nothing for ground clearance and the suspension stays untouched. They have no impact on the way the suspension works or feels, except you have a bit higher center of gravity so there is a little bit more body roll. Body lifts come in two sizes, 2" and 3". Price range for a body lift without installation is around $150 to $250.
A suspension lift actually replaces suspension parts with bigger stronger and in most cases better riding ones than what comes stock. Suspension lifts give greater ground clearance and suspension travel, better offroad performance, the ability to fit bigger tires, are more functional, and look much better than a body lift. A few example parts you would get in a suspension lift would be bigger and more arched leaf springs for the rear, and longer A-arms, coil spacers, longer torsion bars, and bigger coils, etc. for the front. Most chevy trucks are equipped with an Independent front suspension so the biggest thing that lifts the front is the front subframe where the A-arms are connected too. Susp. lifts range from between 3" and 12" depending on your truck and what different companies make for it. Most people run a 6". Price range for a full susp. lift not including installation is between $1000 and $2500
Hope this helps.
