    Exclamation Low oil pressure!!

My 99 for the last two days sits around 17-21psi on the gauge when i come to a stop it drops to zero, then takes a few seconds to get back up, yesterday on the excursion back from the holidays I started to hear a tick in the upper end of the motor (comes and goes). The temp doesnt get any hotter then normal but that could be of the MN cold, and this has never used any oil, tomorrow will be able to check it out a little more during the daylight. So, has anyone dealt with this? How much damage could have been done, and will I most likely need a new motor? I would really like an HT383E crate motor though!

I don't think that you are doing any damage to the motor, you can probably get away with replacing the oil pump. But you can always us it as an excuse for a new engine.

Just guessing here, perhaps the pickup screen on the oil pump is stopped up?

What kind of oil have you used?

Any treatments such as Seafoam or Top End Cleaner been used that might have loosened up some sludge/debris?

I am sure you have checked but just in case.

Make sure that somehow the oil has not gotten diluted with something that would make it thinner.

I would change the oil ASAP.
