Hey I have a 2004 Tahoe but should be very similar. All that it takes to get mine off is a flat head screw driver to get inbetween the plastic and the metal of the door. Mine has tabs that should just pop out with a little bit of wiggeling to get them all out. nothing much to it. Just becareful not to pull to hard in one spot because we all know how easy it is to break some plastic!...and it's pricey! Once you get the door panel off, the spekers are just screwed in and wire are easy to get to.

OH DEAR GOD, please dont screw yourself and try to pry that off, it will break and you will be F'ed and pissed. i put new speakers in my 2000 silverado 1500. you have to take a few screws out and pop off a few small pieces like the plastic covering the door handle, then you LIFT off. if you pry everything off everything will break. if you lift and it doesnt easily come off, yo probably missed a screw

And don't use screwdrivers as pry tools, the're specific tools made for interior panel removal, including a tool the removes the fasteners so you don't break them. But purchase a few just in case. Also, be careful removing the sound deading plastic, you'll want to put this back. And if you putting some good speakers with some base, buy some Dyna Mat to line the door by the speaker, keeps it from rattling....
Wash your hands in between as not to transfer the grease/grime to the panels, sometimes it's a PITA to clean off........
