Default 95 Burb won't go into 4hi on the fly

The other day I tried to put my 95 Burb in to 4hi while driving at about 45-50 all I got was a grinding noise. I am how ever able to put it into 4hi while stopped. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Manual says that you should be moving (slowly though) when engaging the 4x4, and if you're standing still it will grind.
