A heat gun on low and take your time and you'll be fine.

I was wondering if a heat gun would do the job. My moldings are looking discolored. Did they peel off pretty easy or did you have to use something else to get the backing to come off?

Good writeup!!! As far as the full tailgate metal-ish emblem... It is just adhered (sp?) on... It will roll off like a sardine can lid...

I want to take the molding off my truck for a while now. It's a 97 and for the year the paint is in great shape but I have one worry about some fading. Has anyone taken the molding off an older truck and had an issue with that?

I also use a wooden tongue depressor to slide up under the letters. The heat gun doesn't melt it and it doesn't scratch the paint.
