I was driving my 2001 Sierra 4.8L truck down the road and noticed that the oil pressure gauge showed no pressure. I stopped the truck and checked the oil levels and they were fine so I got back in the truck to drive home, about a half mile down the road the truck completely died. What would cause this? The engine seemed to be running fine, it was overheating and sounded normal. Does anyone have any ideas. Also, the horn stopped working a few days earlier, so I was hoping this might be a small electrical problem.
Let's see no oil pressure, overheating and you continued to drive it. Congrats you need a motor.

there is supposedly a cut off from the oil pressure sending unit that can kill the fuel pump when the psi gets to low, but if it overheated then it might not have that or it failed
