    Default fuel filter question

I tried a quick search and came up with no answers. Does any one know were the fuel filter is located on a 2004 silverado z71? I know it was in the frame rail on my 94. Anyone?
    thanks

I don't believe it has one. If I recall correctly the filter is part of the sender in the tank and is not a serviceable item. The manual will state otherwise but I am pretty sure there is no filter on the 4.8-5.3-6.0 and 8.1.

Yes the filter is part of the in-tank assembly along with the fuel strainer, pump and regulator. It would be hoped that it will last a long time as the assembly is rather expensive.

Good info guys! I too was attempting fuel filter maintenance a while back and found out it isn't mounted along the frame rail like most trucks. Hopefully it will last forever

I have an 02 and just changed mine and it made a world of difference(after many, many miles overdue). My buddy has a 05 with the same amount of miles and it seems to me like the filter could be changed. What does the dealer/techs say about this? I cant believe a filter would be expected to last the life of the vehicle...

It's not supposed to last the life of the vehicle, just the life of the fuel pump. I went through the search for it on my dad's 05 a few months back and finally asked a friend that works at a dealership. Yup, no external filter.
