Ok i have a 2008 silverado w/o keyless entry, i wanted to add keyless entry and bought an aftermarket brand. Got it, and realized im in way over my head. WAAAAAY to complicated to install myself. I was wondering if my Truck is set up already for the stock GM keyless entry, and all i need to do is get the remotes from the dealer and program them, or maybe all i have to do is get the keyless entry from the dealer and just basically plug it in.
Now i did open up the fuse box in the interior and noticed that there are two spots for fuses for "i assume" the keyless entry according to the owners manual, Im wondering if all i have to do is add the fuses and get the remotes from the dealer program them, bing bang boom keyless entry. But i know its probably not that easy. Please help, if you know what im talking about and have any input PLEASE REPLY!!!
THANKS

go to a good shop, not best buy or circuit city and have a remote starter put in, for the money you spend to get factory keyless it will be better money spent on remote start COMPUSTAR is what you want. Then you have way more options, keyless, windows, full alarm, much better range as well!

I totally agree!
I can't address your questions directly - I've no idea what they leave on at the factory.
I agree, though, that whatever you get at the dealership will be comparable to or even more expensive than a complete remote start system from an automotive electronics store. Best Buy, Circuit City....not the best places to go - the installers are not always the best qualified people for doing anything other than simple installs that require easy plug and play (no insult intended) so go to those shops that specialize in this stuff, like Vncj96 said.
Good luck!
I agree go to a pro for the remote. If you live in NH area "Gold Seal "is the best he's been doing mine for many years.

These guys at Gold Seal even used one of the buttons on the remote to heat my seats. This is an awesome feature. Not only is the truck warm but the seats as well.![]()
