On a recent trip my radio in my 96 Suburban faded away, blasted my ears off, and then quit working all in the span of a couple seconds. The power was still to the unit, and all the controls seemed to work,just no sound. 2 days later, it worked briefly, and did the same thing. I bought a replacement radio a week ago and put it in,and it stopped playing again today.This time, it faded away,but no loud blast. 1 hour later, it's working fine,but I fear it won't last. This is the AM/FM cassette unit.
