My alarm has gone off -how do I reset it?

My 98 GMC Suburban Beeped at me when I opened the door the other night. I drove it; but had to have a tow home. It was starting and immediately shutting down, like it was fuel starved.

Now I dont get any dash lights staying on or flashing at all. When I open the door manual only- fob wont work, there is a loud tick-tick-tick from under the dash, there are also some under dash lamps that act like the Hazard lamps. I am sure it is the alarm system.

How do I reset it?

I'm not sure totally and all I can give is advice that seems to be every first reply to troubles like this: Unplug the battery for a few hours and hopefully should take care of the issue.

I'm sure someone else will chime in soon with a more direct fix. Good luck with your issue, and make sure to come tell us what ended up fixing it!
