Default New here - LED taillight bar problem

    Hey guys, first post here.

I have a 2004 Silverado ext. cab and today I installed a Plasmaglow rear LED light bar. I have the 7 pin trailer light plug, but the light bar uses a 4-pin. Before I actually hardwired the bar into the back of the 7-pin, I checked to see if the LED's worked (with the 7 to 4 pin adaptor). The problem I noticed was when I would turn on either indicator light, it won't blink. The normal indicator bulb will light up and the bar will dim, but no flash. Anyone have similar problems or know what could be the problem?

Sounds like a cross in wires, faulty trailer wires, or faulty LED bar. I would get a meter to double check your trailer pins to make sure you are hitting the right ones. If you are and your meter jumps at the appropriate times when the proper turn signal is on I would contact Plasmaglow and ask them what to do. That's the only idea I have. Hopefully someone else will have a thought and/or have had the same problem.

    Good luck,
    Steven

Does your new taillight bar have the turn signal, not all do. Make sure it is supposed to have that function as well.

Well I went out and "messed" around with some of the wiring to see what would happen. Without the running light wire connected, the turn signals would work, except when the brake was depressed. The brakes would come on as well. I finally left it with just the running and reverse lights hooked up so I could drive and have functioning turn signals.

That's the bar I bought, so it does have turn signals.

it does sound as if your wires are not on the correct connections, did they give a good diagram? Why are you not using the 4 pin connector in the harness, instead of the 7 pin? Should be attached up on the drivers side I believe with the coonector already attached! These are suppose to be wired with bot the coonectors so you can choose what lights you want to run for what trailer your pulling.
