I just bought a 2008 Silverado and I want to put the stereo in that I had in my old truck. I have a Kenwood headunit and I'm reading that I need to use this adapter (Metra's GMOS-LAN-01 ). My question is, has anyone else used this adapter and also can I hook up my amp using this adapter?
Do you have a Bose system? What about OnStar, steering wheel controls?

It is not a Bose system, it does have onstar and I would like to keep it. I do not have steering wheel controls, just the cruise control.
If you want to replace the factory deck and keep OnStar, you can get the AXXESS GMOS series of adapters. Crutchfield sells but you may find the one for your truck cheaper on Amazon.

If you put one in make sure you adjust the volume for OnStar and your chimes before securing the deck in the dash.

When I read up on these adapters they say non amplfied. Does that mean that I can't use my amp and subwoofers? Thanks for all your help.
I believe it means that it is to used on vehicles with non Bose set ups.Bose uses individual "amps" on each speaker. I am pretty sure you can just use the RCA outputs on the new head unit.
Good Luck and keep us posted
