    Default Fuel Pump/Tank 96 Tahoe

I have a 96 Tahoe with a fuel pump that was replaced 20,000 miles ago. The fuel pump has a very loud whine and when the fuel gauge gets to about 1/4 tank it starts to stall out even though there is still gas in the tank. The gas gauge is working. What should I look at to correct the problem?

Over the internet, I only have your description to go on, so I hope you don't take my comments the wrong way.

1st thing I'd check is your assertion that, "there is still gas in the tank". How much gas (or how much does it take to fill up vs. tank capacity)? Gas gauges/sending units being electrical in nature can have a significant variability. Are you certain that 1/4 tank on your gauge doesn't really mean Empty?

Does it just stall, or stall under certain conditions? Because EFI pumps aren't attached to the bottom of the tank, it is possible while cornering or going up hill/downhill (depending on specific pump and tank design) for the fuel to shift in the tank and leave the pump temporarily "high and dry" especially when the tank is nearly empty (back to the question of how much is really in the tank when it reads 1/4).

Yes there is gas in the tank. When the gauge reads 1/4 tank and I turn it will stall out. If I go straight it is ok. As the gas gets lower and lower it gets worse.
