Ok, so the wife and kiddos and I got in the Trailblazer and drove to a local Cracker Barrel (www.crackerbarrel.com) and enjoyed some time out of the house where someone else cooked. I like going to the CB because it's like going to someone's grandparents house out in the country and there's good food and stuff to look at (like I just got out into the big city general store or the WoolWorth's to spend my ranch hand calf-roping bonus).
Anyhow, I ended up ordering the Cracker Barrell Country Boy Breakfast. Sound good? Here's what the menu reads:
A meal so good that I have to loosen my belt? That's for me please! The Cracker Barrel’s Country Boy Breakfast®
Just loosen your belt and enjoy your choice of Country Ham, Pork Chops or Steak grilled to order, Three Eggs* cooked to order, Fried Apples, Hashbrown Casserole, Grits, Sawmill Gravy, Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits, real Butter and the best Preserves, Jam n' Apple Butter (on request) we could find.
However, what did I get after I ordered it? Well, I got the "Steak" even though the menu that I ordered from had an extra couple of options on it for meat. It was about a 6 to 8 oz sirloin and it was cooked very well. I assumed that I got everything else on the menu. It was $8.99, which was the most expensive thing on the Cracker Barrel breakfast menu that I could find.
I ended up getting just the Steak, three eggs over-easy (with cheese added) and they brought out just a couple of biscuits and cornbread to share for the whole table ... that was it. I had to ask for the rest of my food after a few minutes and they said that they were sorry they forgot to get it all ... but the waiter would have to check with the kitchen to see what was on the order (like he didn't know --- he was a good waiter and we gave him a 18%+ tip, but he should know his menu) ... ended up getting the Hashbrown caserole brought to go and that was it. Nothing else.
Perhaps they're trying to tighen their belts (while I had to loosen mine becuase of the meal -- HAHAHA ... sorry), but I think I was supposed to get 1) the fried apples, 2) my own biscuits and 3) sawmill gravy too and 4) the grits. Plus I had to ask for my 5) hashbrown caserole to be brought as they weren't just going to bring it to me, and I pointed it out in the menu and the waiter just said that's what the kitchen told him.
Anyhow, I still like eating there, I just wish they would make menus that are not big long run-on sentences. Try using bullets and numbers! lol Maybe just a photo menu for folks like me.

No Sir, you were taken, your post is correct and the extras should have been provided with your meal. As we pay more I scrutinize more now, question and expect answers since we work hard for our money. But I must go back to the original lead in post, you are old enough to know about Woolworths? Then you probably remember SS Kresske's, yes.
But like you said, it still is s good palce to dine as it does remind us of the grandparents place. So hope your good and full from the meal and all were also satisfied.....

I think you need to start hitting up the "Waffle House". Dude you can eat so much there for cheap. Oh yeah, the more grease there is on the table you sit at, the better the food is. Ha Ha.
sounds like you got ripped. i always get the egg sandwitch plus the hashbrown cass. cheap like $4

It's good food, and good times, at the Cracker Barrel. It was probably better for me that I didn't get all of it to eat anyhow.Need to tighten the belt a little bit these days if you know what I mean.

This post must have sneaked by me the first time around. I say you definately should have had more on your plate. I really, truly, do not like to complain but at times I just have to let it rip. 1. know your menu, 2. know what your customer ordered (you DO write it down, after all...), 3. get all the food to the table that's supposed to be there!
And! AND! When someone orders a coffee... they actually mean "May I have a coffee and a spoon to stir it with, please?". How many times have you had to ask for a spoon?
I digress... at least you got your fill. That's some heavy food they have there! As for the menu descrption..I dislike going to a restaurant where I'm expected to read short stories so I can figure out what I want to eat!

Yeah, I would have been mad! I freakin love Cracker Barrel though. I almost always get the breakfast sampler. If you eat everything that comes with that, you've gotta be wheeled out of the restaurant, lol!

Cracker barrel is what's up! Fried apple cakes. So good it deserves its own sentence, lol. Recommend them to anyone if you like apples and pancakes. Oh, and ya you should have gotten something free with that jip. These days I also find myself trying to get every penny's worth!
