New to the site....great info.
I have a problem with my 1988 silverado 5.7
I recently did a tune up on it including: plugs, wire, cap, rotor, and fuel filter.
I made the bone head mistake and twisted the steel braided fuel line when I put the fuel filter on. Then when I started it, of course with out knowingwhat I had done, it ran like crap. I replaced the fuel line and started it up. The truck ran awsome for aobut 5 min. After that is chugged and died. Started it back up and it started but I have to keep the gas pushed otherwise it dies. It seems to run great as long as the gas is pressed, otherwise it dies
What i have done:
replaced the fuel filter...again
checked the fireing order
taken apart and cleaned the throttle body
What I think it could be
fuel pump
fuel preasure regulator
Hopefully someone can help
Thanks in advance
Jon

I'm guessing that it is a fuel pressure problem. You may have done damage to something from backing up the fuel flow (I'm thinking pump). Good luck.
Thanks
The od says 251,000 but I am pretty sure that the motor has been replaced seems how I dont think that the truck came stock with steel braided fuel lines.
One thing I did notice is that after 5 min the fuel begins to spudder out of the injectors.
One thing that I diont understand is that if I keep my foot on the pedal right above idle, it runs great. Its only when I try to let it idle is when I have the problem. If it was the fuel pump, would that happen? Seems more like the preasure regulator would cause this result, anyone know?
