i am trying to figure out why my 2001 silverado 1500 4.8l has a hard time starting i changed the fuel filter, changed the fuel pump and nothing any take out there some are saying that my fuel pressure regulator is bad how do i replace it and how can i test it
How about checking the distributor cap..........may be faulty.
Hard starts like that I generally start with the fuel system, too. Standard 1st test for the fuel system is to put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see what the fuel pressure is.

Most common problem for this is the fuel pressure regulator. After driving, remove the rubber vacuum hose off of the regulator, if any fuel drips out of it, you need a new regulator.
