    Default 1990 Chevy Transmission Question

1990 Chvey 1500, 305V8-Automatic, 130,000 miles: When I take off the engines revs really high, then eventually shifts into second/Third etc..After taking if for a long drive in the country and getting it warmed up quite a bit I stop, then take off again and it shifts ok? Probably Trans Oil has never been changed. I checked the level and had to add a quart to get it registered while "Hot"...any advice? I plan on changing Trans Oil. Do you think this will help? Thanks...*This truck sat for 6 years in a barn and its now my sons truck. Trying to make it right for him...

Check the passenger side of the transmission for a vacuum modulator. If it is there (not sure about the 90 models) check the vacuum line from there up to the engine and make sure it is connected at both ends and not cracked or broken anywhere.

you said what year you have, but what model? This determines whether you have a TH700R4 or a 4L60E transmission. The troubleshooting for these transmissions is very different considering the symptoms you have described already.
