Default What Oil Should I Get??

Hey everyone, im creeping up on oil change time and its the first time i've done it on this truck. Its almost to 60,000 miles and i dont know what type to get. I've seen that everyone on here for the most part likes mobile1 and Royal Purple. So i went down to shucks and asked what i should get. Basically i want to switch over to synthetic but this guy says that if i switch over since my trucks got some miles on it, that it would cause "gasket weep"? where it looks like its leaking. Is this true? what should i do? what type of oil should i get? what grade?(i think it has 10w-30 in it now) HELP!!

What year and how many miles are on your truck? You should be fine switching to synthetic IMO. In regards to grade 10W-30 should be fine in Oregon since it never gets too hot there.

I use Amsoil in my truck and my SUV. i have no complaints. In the SUV I have it in the front and rear diffs. It is a little pricey but I think that it is well worth it. I use the extended life. It can go for 7500 miles or more.

I have switched to Royal Purple and would recommend it. Check out their site for more info on it.

I live in AZ, I called GM HQ, and talked to one of the senior techs there and he told me that putting 10w-30 in my truck here would be like putting water (viscosity wise) in my motor, I told him that I run 20W-50 in the truck and he told me that was perfect. It really depends on where you drive the vehicle the most.
