Fellas, I'm thinking about buying a flowmaster super 40 series muffler to have welded in instead of swapping out the whole catback setup. Does anyone happen to know the diameter of the stock exhaust pipe at the inlet and outlet of the muffler? Thanks. And if anyone has recommendations for a muffler other than the super 40, feel free to chime in.

I don't know what it is, but you should be able to figure it out. Measure the outside circumference of the pipe and divide that by 3.14. That will give you the diameter of the pipe.![]()

I don't know the answer about the pipe diameter but I do think the flowmaster 40s are good. for your truck I thnk 2.5" pipe with a 3 chamber muffler is great.

I replaced my stock system with a cat back and left the muffler out of the system. It made absolutely no difference in sound. This is due to the DPF (diesel particulate filter) cat which cuts out any chance for a nice rumble. I couldn't tell if you are running a Duramax or gas. If you're a gas guy...never mind!
