Does anyone else have this problem?...when you get in and start the truck the speaker hums/vibrating noise...it is annoying, does for quite a while, and sometimes does not stop. They switched over to digital some time back and my system does not work any how, was thinking about cutting the wiring to it...but I think a guy would have to get under the head liner to access them.
That little speaker makes alot of noise for something that has been turned off. I have an aftermarket radio that is not connected to Onstar and I am wondering if there is a fuse that may pwr the Onstar system. If that fuse were removed, no pwer to system and no hum.
I'm gonna look today and I'll let you know.

What little speaker? If you are referring to the little round one on the roof near the drivers head, it's actually not a speaker and it's a fan for the climate control system. The get noisy over time and need to be cleaned or replaced.

dwill3015 is right! After tearing mine out today and finding no speaker, I found that if you clean the fan, the noise goes away. I always thought that Onstar communication was heard through the door speakers and was part of the truck audio. Also taking the Onstar fuse out of it's holder in the engine bay can cause more items to go off other than Onstar itself.
Thanks for the info.
Yea I had that same problem when i wired my stereo and new speakers to my truck. Spoke with the guy from autozone and he said that you had to run an extra wire to the fuse panel to compensate for the onstar setup. Or else you wont have dash lights windshield wipers and anything on the front end of your truck pretty much lol.

thanks for the input guys...it is the interior air temperature sensor that is making the noise. Thank you for pointing that out before I cut the wires to it. Now the fun begins getting at it. Looked through the service manual and the headliner on the crew cab comes out through the back window, Manual says that you can get at it by removing the front pillar cover, center pillar cover, assist handle, sun visor and retention clip, then the headliner fastener screws(probably torx head). Then should be able to get enough play in the headliner to access it. Hope cleaning it works and I do not have to replace the unit. Proof again that this site is helpful.

Good luck with that repair. It has been mentioned before on this site but I have never seen a detailed repair write-up. Tale some pics along the way and post them in the write-up section if you have time.
