    Default Newbie....upstate NY

Hi everybody….new to the truck club but I’m not new to Chevy ownership. Bought my first Blazer back in 1981….it was a ’78.

My Dad was a chevy guy. I don’t remember him owning anything else, and he always cringed when I brought home anything but a bowtie. I used to love crawling underneath ‘em and getting my hands dirty. He taught me a lot abut cars. I’ved owned plenty of trucks, blazers, and most recently got into suburbans. I picked up a 1999 suburban about 1 ½ years ago, because the price was right and I wanted to see if I liked the ride. My parents had one thru my teen years and that what I took my road-test on….it was a 1973…I think. Anyway, I loved the ride and room in the 1999, just didn’t have very good luck with it. Just a bunch of piddly things that irked me…including the keyless entry remote leaving me calling for AAA in a K-mart parking lot in Winchester Va in the midst of a torrential downpour….and after they let me back in the burb, I got a flat on the way from there back to the hotel room. And the whole reason for the excursion was to find some refrigerant so I could recharge my A/C which didn’t want to work that trip either. Anyway, I traded that ones gone, and it was replaced recently with a black 03 Z71 suburban…which so far I love. I also own an 89 stepside 4X4 that’s gonna need some work. Shes great mechanically, but she’s rusty around the doors and rockers…

I look forwarding to checking out your trucks, and showing some photos of mine when I get some uploaded.

Welcome to the GMTC, Kenny. Sounds like you've had quite a few rounds with past GMs. All in the good name of education!

Look forward to seeing your 'burban.

Welcome to the forum! I've had bad days/weeks with suburbans as well. My dad and I both had one at the same time last year. His tranny died so I let him drive mine. I was driving it home from Cape Cod and I lost a serpentine belt at 3 in the morning 2 hours from home. My mom (who was following in her car) drove home pulled the belt off my dad's dead suburban and brought it back to my dad and I on the side of the highway so we could get home. I also cooked the tranny that night hahahaha.
