    Default Hypertech Hyperpac

On the Hypertech site, is has a hyperpac available for 96-99' and then jumps to 02-08 silverado's. If I were to purchase the 02-08, would it work properly for my 01??

You can go to hypertech's website and compare model#'s to see if it would work. I had a hypertech programmer for my 2000 ZR2 blazer and I went to their site and found that it would work on my 1998 Silverado Z71.

no, they will only work for the years listed. They read the PCM, so even thought the engine and the rest of the truck might seem to be the exact same, the PCM has different information on it and the programmer for a different year will not work.

Are you saying no to my reply or to the OP?

If it was me, this is how I would look at it:

    1. Take a risk of possibly locking up the engine or transmission, which in turn could end up costing you several thousands of dollars in damages.

    2. All that risk for what? Maybe a 15-30hp gain, and maybe 20-40ft. lbs. of torque. I forgot about the MPG's, you might be able to squeak out 1-2 mpg better with the programmer.

    3. If It was me I wouldn't think that is worth it, but that's just my opinion. I have never mixed my programmers in the past on ANY of my trucks, both my Power Programmer III and my Hypertech HyperPac asked for the VIN # of the truck in the first step after calibration. They are meant for only the vehicle and powertrain specified, I wouldn't risk that for the minimal gain that you will get............AMY

The original post. I bet your programmer part number is 30024. I've been selling hypertechs on eBay for the past few years so I know a thing or two about them.

You don't have to worry about that. If the programmer cannot recognize the correct PCM and calibration, it will not attempt to program it. Also hypertech will cover the repair cost if their programmer causes the problem.

Wow that's cool!! Good to know!
I bought mine from a fellow ZR2 member a few years. I haven't really noticed a different on my Z71 after I programmed it but I did notice a difference on my ZR2.

They do not need to be sent back to be unlocked. As long as the vehicle it was previously used on was reset back to stock settings, it will be unlocked and can be used again. You only need to send it back if the previous owner did not set their truck back to stock, in which case Hypertech will charge a fee which is usually more than you could buy an unlocked used one on ebay for.
