    Default 6.0 gas mileage

I am considering buying a late model 3/4 ton 2wd suburban. Does anyone know what kind of gas mileage the 6.0 liter motors get?

I got a 2002 Avalanche 2500 with the 8.1L and it gets 11/13. So the 6.0L can't be worse than that. if this helps.

    I had a 2004 2500 HD 3/4 Silverado with the 6.0, and it got a steady 14.0 mpg highway/side roads.

Hi this a bit of a pun gas mileage on a 6.0 to the next gas station. I have owned 2 to best I could get is 14 mgp.
Most of the gas mileage problem is gear ratio.

2000 Silverado 2500 6.0. The highest I have gotten in the summer time is 13.8. In the winter time is between 9 to 11. I am very disappointed. Helping the inlaws move the last 2 weeks. Drive with 16 ft enclosed trailer, V front going no faster than 65 typically averaged 60mph in drive with tow mode on travel time 4.5 hours with one stop half way between and I got 6.35 miles per gallon. Didn't think this was possible. Temp here is between 20 and 30 degrees F. Drove as conservative as humanly possible. I am a chevy man and father inlaw is a Ford man. I was embarrassed. I love the truck but this mileage is terrible. My dad has the 5.7l in his silverado and I can't feel any power difference. His mileage is much better also. If I wasn't going to sell it to get a 4 door truck I would spend some cash to try an increase the mpg this summer.

I agree completely.. My dad has an 04 2500HD and it is brutal on gas mainly because of the gear ratio.. we're looking into a gear swap for it, it might be a possibility for you too.

3/4 ton trucks with 4.10 gears have always gotten poor gas mileage. The reason is the 3/4 ton truck is made to tow and haul weight. If you want your 2500 to do what it's designed to do please don't change the gears. You will be disappointed.

I know.. we bought the HD to tow our 22 foot boat.. but my truck is a 2500 with the 5.3 and it tows it awesome.. the HD's look way tougher though so we couldnt pass it down.. haha
