    Default Valvoline or Pennzoil

Just wanted the opinions of this site and it's users about these oils. I have used both without any issues. On other forums some say these cause sludge. What do yall think?

I have always run valvoline. I run the maxlife in my higher mileage vehicles and run the vr1 20w50 in my 96 z28 383 LT1. Never noticed any sludge build up at all. My dad has always ran vr1 20w 50 in his race motors too...

Valvoline is good stuff, I use it. Always used it in the race car too. I figure Pennzoil is good to but have never used it.

Pennzoil adds a subtance called Pectin to their motor oil. Look on the back of the bottle, one of these days. That what causes the sludge and varnish. As long as you keep the oil changed every 3000 mi. I would not worry to much about the slugde problem. If you let it go for awhile like me, use any motor oil other than Pennzoil.

i just switched over to Napa full synthentic, which i was told Valvoline makes the oil for Napa..was a bit cheaper, so for now, going to stay with that..but who knows if its "truely" made by Valvoline, like the guy claimed.

I herd that somewhere too. Really it's becoming more popular these days for big name companies(valvoline) to manufacture parts for parts stores, under the store's name at a cheaper price.
