93 gmc sub 1500 4x4 . trans slipping on hills in overdrive selector position. and sometimes bangs into lower gear after stop. any ideas on this.

How many miles?
Sounds like age is catching up to it, you could probably try a fluid and filter change maybe an additive but I suspect the problem is worn internals that need replacement and not a band aid.

How many miles? Condition of fluid? Last filter/fluid change?

I agree with Tim. Sounds like the bands are slipping. Changing the filter and fluid may help out a little and only for a short time, but I think you're going to need to replace/rebuild soon.
Thanks for the post. 147,000 plus miles and trans oil and filter change a month a ago. hoped for the best but prepared for the worse. the question now rebuild or replace. reman or used.sign of the times.
