I was browsing summit for a new CAI for my '08 Silverado 1500 and I came across this "VaraRam Tri-Power Ram Air Systems." Has anyone used this one before? It looks like a good system but I would like some input on it before I spend that kind of money.
To be honest with you in my opinion k&n is the way to go. It isnt number one for nothing. You can pick up a great CAI for about 270$ if you shop around.
I personally have the S&B intake on my silverado which is a great setup, go to jegs.com for the best resource, good luck!

I have thought about the Vararam intake also. Done a little research and what I gathered is they are now putting intakes on trucks....BUT have been making them for Corvettes for a while and people in the Corvette world seem to like them a lot. I have heard that the air filter the way it is setup up in the system is a pain because the whole intake needs to be pulled to replace/clean the filter![]()
With my experiences, unless you're planning on adding a lot of power, don't go and spend a whole lot of money, go budget and if you do decide to add some serious power then you can always sell whatever you have to get a little bit of it back. And just so you know, things like CAI's work ok, but not to their potential until you add other things like a throttle body spacer, headers, maybe a mass air flow sensor, and a tune. The tune is where you'll get the biggest difference. I went with HP tuners and I love it. I have an 04 single cab short bed with a 5.3 and I've spent less than $700 on performance parts and I run down stock mustang gt's all day even some with a few mods.

I have 05, 5.3 Silverado and a few years ago I bought there CAI and volocity stack for throttle body. The CAI was very flimsy, sent it back but keep v/stack. That does work. On 5.3 it doesnt make anymore H/power but is good for 22ft. lb. torque at the bottom end.
Thanks for your input guys. I have alwasys used K&N but this looked interesting. I just bought the truck 2 months ago and I want to start off with a CAI, exhaust, and good tune from nelson performance.
