I know what an EGR is cheif, and the EGR does not open when the exhaust pulsates, I believe it's when a certain temperature is reached. Maybe the people at the drag strip have more mods than the guy you raced. If he cut it off after the cats, that's not going to make enough of a difference to change backpressure anyways. Most of the restriction is in the cats.

Well I had a few estimates run today....I had two different places quote me just under 300 (including tax) for SI/DO flowmaster 40 WITH stainless steel tips....So I'm reeeeaaally tempted to go get it done now...thanks for all the help regarding the cats everyone. I would get a high flow cat, but that'd probably run me 250 bucks I'd guess. And I'm a college student who pays for everything so that wouldn't be the best choice right now. Again thanks for all the help...I have one more question-Is there anyone on here or someone that you know that runs just straight pipe no mufflers on their 5.3?? Thanks again
