Hey guys. I have a '91 GMC Sonoma 2wd Extd. cab with the 4.3L 262. The transmission is a automatic but I'm not sure of which one. It has been sitting for awhile and when I got it running yesturday the trans started slipping. It's bad when I go around corners, the rpm's jump and the trans dosen't do anything. Also when it's in park it won't go into reverse right away. It didn't do this before it sat for about a year. Is this something that could be fixed by a transmission service kit from a local auto parts store, or dose this sound like something more serious? The fluid level looks good and the fluid is the right consistency and color. Please help me out on this...thanks for your time.
cheap fix try running Trans Tune through it
just take out a quart of trans fluid and add the quart of trans tune run for 500 miles and change out all fluid and filter

I'd agree with Z71 GUY, sounds like the trans built up sludge and varnish while it was sitting.
You did check the fluid level right?
