    Default getting hypertech III

I am going to buy a hypertech III for the beast this week or next, just because i really need a code reader and i might as well kill two birds with one stone. Am just wondering what some of you have used for settings, have you found it worth it to adjust for the higher octane or just leave it at 87. Any other suggestions on the tuner would be appreciated , Thanks!

Hey, I don't have a hypertech but I have the superchips cortex and I've tried both the 87 and high octane modes. The hp gains for my vehicle were doubled on the high octane mode, but of course you have to couple that with the added price for gas. I didn't really notice any mpg difference, but of course i've only had the programmer for about a week and my foots been pretty heavy since then.

If just for the price and superchips cortex offers a 2 year powertrain warranty with there product. I dont know how much you are paying for the hypertech but i would go with the superchips.

If you buy a Hypertech, make sure to get a used one. That is the one aftermarket part where a used part will function no differently as a new part and you will save big bucks by doing it that way. Just make sure if you buy one that the seller states that it is not VIN locked. If you buy one on craigslist, make sure you bring your truck with you and try to program it before you pay them.
