    Default Stereo Amp Ground

Sup! New to the site. Trying to hook up a amp and sub in my 07 Silverado. Cannot get a good ground from amp anywhere in the back seat area. Only way speaker will play is if you rub the amp ground across a bolt going to the body, when it sparks the speaker will play momentary and then shut off. If we fasten the ground securely it will not play at all. Tried 2 different amps with same result and even ran a ground all the way to the battery with same result. GETTING FRUSTRATED! Any ideas?

    Default very strange

I use to work at a shop for 5 years as a mobile audio/video installer. the bolt that you are attaching the ground wire to ,have you scraped the paint from around the bolt? is the amp maintaing power or going into protect mode when you do strike the ground wire accross the bolt? what brand and type of amps are you using? do you have the ground wire crimped into a connector?...are you using the factory head unit?

you want to keep the ground short as possible, but dont make it tight, you do want some slack, but not much. i think i took out one of the nuts on one of my seat belts, and scraped the paint away from under it then tightened it back down. you can put some di-electric grease to help out with it. but you really have to get that paint away for good contact. use a flat screwdriver and some steel wool or sand paper.
