    Default cant believe it - Silverado Grinding Noise

    Got in my truck to go to work today and started rolling down the road, and heard the most horrible grinding noise. At first i thought it was the brakes rubbing but then it stopped after twenty mph. It came back as soon as i hit the railroad tracks by my house and wouldnt go away. I got all they way to work and left a few house later to go cash my check and now second gear is skipping. It sounds like there is some serious grinding in my trans. I am bringing it to the dealer tommorrow morning and gonna get a little tin can rental for who knows how long.

    keep you guys posted on what is going on.

    i have only had it about three weeks.

    i got word from the dealers today after dropping it off at 7:00 this morning, news is as follows;

    Front drivers side wheel bearing: broke currently being fixed
    Transmission: In more pieces then a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle
    Front right shock: Went soft on me.

    Having your 2006 chevy get over $4,000 worth of work and getting to beat on a p.o.s. rental car for a week while the shop does it for FREE.

    Thats Priceless

    Yea but a truck that new having those problems, what did the PO do beat it daily?
    This shouldnt have happened, doesnt the dealership do at least a cursory inspection of vehicles their selling and offering warranty on?
    Or are they trying to sell warranty so they can charge off on the new owners warranty so they dont have to spring for the parts and labor on trade-ins that have issues?

    Hope all turns out well.

    i ran the history on carfax and it only came back with one PO and he leased it as a new veh. in 06 and turned it in four months ago. The dealer said it went through the GM used car cert. whatever that is.

    The GM used car certification is an indepth inspection/check list of around a 100 some odd major points on a vehicle, it's usually pretty thorough and I thought it would pick up issues with the trans or bad wheel bearings. But I guess any inspection is only as good as the inspector.

    These items arent things you would normally break on a vehicle after three weeks unless you were beating the piss out of this truck every day. And I see no reason why you would beat the piss out of a vehicle you just bought and most likely still have time to pay on.

    I wish i could say it was because of something i did to it this way i would know why it is having problems. Hopefuly when it comes ack from the dealer that will be it. I sure dont want to be paying on something for five years that is going to be in shop half the time. I havent even made my first payment on it yet. it wont come out of my account until tomorrow and i wont even be driving the thing for who knows how long.
