Default ignition and fuel pump problems

I have an 89 chevy 2500 4x4 with a 350 5.7. The other day I left my truck running to warm up while I was inside. When I came out it was dead. I can turn it over and it cranks but no firing. could be a fuel pump or spark problem I am guessing. Truck was running great before this happened. That same day when I went to take a look at what was wrong I was turning it over to hear my fuel pump. When I turned it off and took my key out, the truck just kept turning over. Finally had to disconnect my battery to stop it. Any ideas on where to start fixing these problems. Is it my ignition switch that is bad?
    Thanks, Nate

you probably have a short in your igniton system somewhere. check the ignition swich. if not try to trace the wires and see if they are burned at all
