I picked up my new 1998 K1500 Suburban yesterday. It's my first ride of this kind and I have no idea what the feel of it should be like. Let me say first that I love everything about my new beast. I had a brief hiatus last night cos a battery terminal nut loosened in the trip across London and down into Kent. Not visibly but enough to stop her starting. Anyway, my question to you experienced Chevy truck drivers is how would you describe the feel of the road in you hands? Do you have a constant light juddering except on the very smoothest of tarmac? I know so many thing can effect the ride quality but I'd like to hear your take on how your truck feels. Thanks.

From my experience, my 'burb is like trying to drive on jello. I can feel the road through the steering wheel, but not very much. My butt meter says there's no road under me. My Dodge mini-van had a much better feel of the road through both steering and seat of my pants. Keep in mind though, my basis for comparison is with sports cars, the last being an Evo VIII.

I remember my burb to be very soft too but the juddering your feeling could be something as simple as an out of balance wheel or worse some worn steering parts. I do know that the speed sensitive steering can give some weird feedback through the wheel too.

Thanks. guys. So as long as it feels like a you're driving a brick with marshmallow tyres everything's cools. If the princess can feel the pea through all those feather mattresses check out the wheel alignment or the like. The steering also pulls little to the left. Could be the road camber or could be the streering. I'm getting it serviced in a couple of days so we'll see what they pick up.
