    Default 5.3 owners input wanted

I am looking at a very nice, Plain Jane, 02 Chevy extended cab-long bed.
I has exactly 95,000 miles and the 5.3
I am wanted to hear from anyone with experience as to the life expectancy of these motors.
My 93 suburban has 150,000 and is awesome. I am wondering if I can expect 150,000 or more out of the 5.3????
    Many thanks, Mark

Mine is an 02 5.3l I have 123,000 miles on it and it runs just as good as it was new. I like it alot. It is comfortable, has decent power, looks good. I will give it two thumbs up ...lol To answer your question I don't see it (motor wise) messing up in the near future. I do see maybe some transmission problems though.

One of the fellows on the Donzi board has just over 300,000 on an 02 Sub, he is a traveling salesman he says it still runs great and has never been apart. He is buying a new truck though but feels he got his $$$ worth out of the Sub. My 02 is a low miler but my 97 has 145K and runs like a top and uses -0- oil.

    Default 5.3

I own a 99 sliverado with a 5.3 that has 159,000 on it. Only had a few minor problems with the transmission, but still runs like new. I use a Castrol/Lucas Oil Stabilizer motor oil mix and it seems to do help a lot.

My mom's got an 01 Burb with the 5.3, at about 118000. She had the tranny go out, and is having problems with the A/C pulley on the motor...but itself is still running strong!
