Recently ive been paying more attention to when I accelerate hard in my suburban or when i just need to accelerate suddenly and notice that sometimes the gears won't switch to a lower gear for more power or goes to a high rpm for a while before finally switching, would a shift kit fix this? if so what brand would work? I know rockauto.com has a shift improver kit for around $53, would that work? Thanks for the help.
A shift kit won't help. Go to Autozone or somewhere and get the truck scanned for trouble codes.

If i accelerate from a complete stop, the rpms will go really high and then finally switch to the next gear, while it is at the high rpms it seems like I am losing power because it is trying to switch to the next higher gear and i mean up to the 4000 rpms as i start red lining at 5k. sorry if the original post was confusing
