I was wanting to put chrome door handles on my 07 Silverado. has anyone done this themselves. And if so, how hard was it?

I haven't done that but I was wondering if you were going to put in the chrome gas cap also?

I believe henchman wants to put on the chrome handles not just the abs plastic chrome covers. I replaced my door handles with the actual gm chrome handles and it was kind of a PIA. Have to take off the inside of all doors and I happen to have a crew cab making it twice as bad. After it was done the look was worth the effort though. I had the plastic covers but a couple of pieces fell off and I was not going to just keep replacing them as they came off.

Fjrocketman, How much of a PIA would you say......on a scale of 1 to 10. I am thinking about doing it also. If it is a real pain I was thinking I would just do the handle covers. The moving part of the handles only , doors and tailgate.

Bob13 I know you didn't ask me but I would rate it a 6, only because it takes a lot of patience especially if you have a crew cab. I have one word of advice for you, think very carefully what you will want to do to the doors in the future. When I did my replacement handles in my 04' Silverado crew cab, I waited until I had the outside buckets and handles, the interior chrome door handles, and a couple other billet trim pieces for each door. When I pulled off each door panel I had about 6 pieces that could be installed in each door at a time, I just don't like to tear all the trim out each time I get a single item. Think about it................

Thanks TRP, That makes sense to me. I have the NBS, I wonder if its any more or less difficult, but either way I will definitely wait til I am sure of everything I want to do. Thanks again...

    Default chrome door handles

I bought the chorme OE handles back in October 08' and finally had a chance to put them on. A friend of mine (Ford Mechanic) and I installed them and they look real good. I do however have and issue w/the front driver side handle, it doesnt appear to sit well. We cranked it down but there is still about a 1/32" of play. I plan on brining it in to the Chevy dealer, they said they would warranty it if it is defective. Otherwise the hardest part was popping the door panels off installation took us about 1.5 hrs to do all four doors. Just take your time....Once you get through one door the rest will be breeze.

Do it right the first time and dont make the mistake I did. Get the OE door handles and dont even bother with the stick on handles. I had got the stainless stell covers for mine in october and they have rust spots on them already. I will be swapping mine out for the OE handles.
