Default Will 3" Cat-Back w/ Stock Muffler Increase Performance?

Hey Guys, I installed an intake on my truck about two months ago and now i'm looking to free up the exhaust. However, i'm not looking for the loud magnaflow or flowmaster type mufflers. Therefore i'm wondering if I will get a performance increase if I do a 3" cat-back to a stock muffler out to a 4" tip. I guess my question is does the magnaflow or flowmaster mufflers actually increase the performance or just the sound? Any tips on enhancing my performance through exhaust work without the extra loudness would be great, thanks!

I am kind of in the same boat as you. From what I have heard, the Dynomax Super Turbo Muffler is supposed to be pretty quiet. I did a little looking at it and I have heard good things about the loudness of it. Summit has a catback system with the Dynomax Super Turbo muffler for $280. I think that is going to be my next upgrade.

Smile will 3 cat-back w/stock muffler increase performance

Your stock muffler is about 2.75inch in diameter. Although the stock muffler flows pretty good on a flow bench, its the rest of the exhaust system (crimped and buckeled turns).Try looking into Corsa Exhaust. They offer two different sounding mufflers for there kits. There pricey so shop around.

Corsa does make excellent exhaust for gas engines.
