i got 16" boyds for my truck after having 20"s and ran into a problem, the back lip of the rim hits the lower control arm when i turn the wheels because there 2" drop spindles and they hold the bottom of the rim way up hugging the lca so i tried 3/8spacers and its not enoughf space so now im thinking of 1"adapters because the rims have ford pattern and chevy pattern (my truck is a chevy 75) or getting half inch spacers on top of the 3/8s i already got and adding longer wheel studs and is any of that safe? i used spacers before but i only had that for like 4 months and sold it

i wouldnt recommend doing spacers on top of spacers even if you make the studs longer i agree with pete do some 1.5 bolt on adapters can get them on ebay and i believe from off road shops, i know we can order them at discount but it depends on what manager you talk to and if he is willing to order them for you, once you get them on either take it to a tire shop or do it yourself but after 75-100miles take the wheels back off and retorque the spacers down to spec.
I just got some 1" spacers for free and im looking to get 1" longer studs .. Should i just go with wheel adapters.. Also if i put space in the front should i do the back or does it matter, cause there wider in the back then the front anyway

i know a lot of guys that use them on their jeeps and they dont have any problems with them. just go back and check them periodically to make sure they do not come lose

Like Pete said they're popular on Jeeps and have little problems.
I use set of 3/4" on my Wrangler to clear the eliptic springs during full articulation, no problems with them as long as I pay attention to the torque.
I had a set on a early 90's GM that kept giving me issues with rear seals but a later teardown of the axle revealed a warped housing and I now think that might have been the real culprit.
I'd avoid spacers that use through studs and use only the style that has studs mounted into them, the through stud style makes you use longer studs and with stretching of the studs they loosen up faster and cause more headaches.

I have used spacers alot on my various vehicles with no problems at all. Just make sure the lug nuts match the spacers and wheels (they may have a different taper and/or depth).
shoot thanks alot.. i am having a hard time finding longer studs for my truck and i probably only need a half in or so but i just got 1" spacers for free there actually adapters i knocked the studs out of but i think since i cant find any studs im gona go any buy the billet aluminum 1" spacers/adapters that have there own lug studs like you guys are recommending, and just putthem on all four tires so it looks descent ... thanks alot for your guyses responce when i needed it and im always willing to hear anymore experiences so dont hold back any stories or anything
