ok i have a 94 2500 4x4, i want to make it ride a little better and free up the rear end for some better traction, will 1500 leaf springs fit my truck, also this may be a dumb idea but what about a coil spring set up, put on some traction bars and replace the leafs with coils, any ideas guys???

there is really no point to this. you might as well just invest in a good set of shocks that will give you a much better ride. look at the Bilstein 5100, Edelbrock IAS, and the Rancho RS9000XL. all are great shocks

why is there no point to this???? i know for a fact 1500s ride better than 2500s, i never pull or carry anything heavy, and i figured the 1500s softer suspension would free up the ride making the rearend flex more therefore pulling better on uneven ground, plus i just had a baby and could use a little softer ride, if im wrong please tell me why

You probably could swap out the leafs and put in some non heavy duty shocks front and rear and maybe talk to shop about adjusting the torsion bars up front for a softer ride.

Im just saying that by putting 1500 springs on a 2500 will lower the truck, you wont be able to tow as much, your rear end will sag more, the payload will drop, blah blah blah. However, since now I know that you dont tow uch or carry heavy loads, than I guess its worth a shot, if they work. the 2500 springs may be a little longer and therefore the shorter 1500 springs wont line up, but I am not sure and maybe someone can correct me. I just dont want you to spend extra money when there may be a cheaper option like something as simple as shocks. My truck was a 95 2500 and when I put the Rancho RS9000X shocks on it it rode like a dream. the shocks are 9 way adjustable so you can stiffen them or soften them as you like.
As for the coil springs in the rear, it will have to be custom as your truck and axles are set up for leafs. I dont know if any companies make a kit that will change it, but if so it will most likely be very expensive with the coils, control arms, spring perches, etc.

The worse the ride, the more i like it.![]()

ok thats the answer i was looking for, thanks, yeah it maybe not worth it, i think i will be better off investing in a locker seeing how mine is worn out on my truck, if it even had one, its a 94 2500 light 4x4, with a 14 bolt, it one wheel peels bad but its around 900 for a good locker, plus installation, so screw it, ill just buy some diapers lol
Hmmm never heard of this one usaully people want to go the other way. But best way to really tell is measure them. I am thinking not but I am not 100% sure. Have you tried removing a leaf from the current set up ?? Might give you the softer ride you are loking for. Coil spring conversion Hmmm lots of work for ??? gain
