    im assuming u have to replace the whole cluster but thats a dealer only item so give them a call and see if u can just replace the guage.

    I have that exact same problem. I have a 2000 silverado also with very low milage (76,000) and my fuel gauge does the same thing. Also if the truck is warm it does not start right away, takes three times for the fuel pump to pressurize because the check valve in the pump lets the pressure drop when you shut the key off. I am waiting for the pump to come into my local parts dealer (they had to order it) will repost if that fixes the prob.
