Shift Points

I own an 03 LT1500 Ext cab. I find that it shifts very hard in low torque low rpm situations. The truck has 80,000 km (yup I'm Canadian...) on it so I had the tranny flushed and serviced. My mechanic thinks it maybe something electrical but the service work seems to have softened the shift points somewhat. Has anyone else observed this or have any thoughts on the matter?

my 2004 did the same thing when it was brand new then needed to do something with the valve body in the tranny

Sorry I took so long to send this but being in the military I can some times be away from the computer for a long time. Anyways I still have the same problem if not a little worse but if I take the truck on the highway and put the rpm to it for a few miles it seems better but on the other hand if it sits for a long time it seems extra bad for the first few miles! I'm prepping for an overseas deployment right now so have resigned the tranny to blowing up and rebuilding it! My mechanic is at a loss and doesnt want to pull it apart to find nothing and not be able to fix it and the dealership claims nothing is wrong so if I'll ask my mech about Newbie's valve body suggestion and if he's still unsure I'll go 4 wheelin in the fall when I return and hit my extended warranty for the repairs.

How hard is the hard shift? Any noise from it?

A Hypertech programer can adjust your shift firmness as well as shift points.

Well I finally got to the bottom of my troubles, for "modified04" yes it was the valve body. Apparently Chev released a service bulletin for this problem in the '03s. If anyone knows where to find it I sure would like to read it? So after 1 1/2 years of my mechanic thinkin I was nuts maybe I'm not! I'll find out Mon when I get the truck back...

The NHTSA administers mfg recalls and tsb's. Go here: NHTSA I didn't see one for the valve body that you mentioned in your post. The mfg's have their own "silent" recalls and service bulletins too. I don't know of any listing of these. Check with your local dealer. A friendly service writer there should be able to check.
