I have a 1997 pick up and the back brakes don't work. When I try to bleed the brakes I sometimes get fluid to one wheel (driver's side) but never to the other on the rear. Front brakes work fine! Can somone help?

Check the brake lines for any pinch's or obstructions, then look at the brake bypass valve.
You might need to remove the bypass valve and bench test it.

How do you test this bypass valve?
Ct9a- I cannot get fluid to the passenger side at all on the rear and not all the tim to the driver's side rear. Are these bypass valves a part I can just replace?
When you open the bleeder on the rear, does your assistant notice that the pedal goes down?

When the one on the drivers side worked which was not every time the pedal did go down and fluid came out of the bleed. But the passenger side never had any pressure at the bleed and the pedal did not go down. I checked it at the master cylinder and I did have pressure. Then I ran out of daylight.
I would probably try to remove the hose from the brake line on the passenger side while somebody is holding the pedal down. If the pedal moves, you know that your obstruction is in the hose, if it still doesn't, you can guess that it is probably the valve.

Does each individual brake line to each wheel have it's own valve?
I think that just the rear 2 share one valve. Not totally sure on that, I could be wrong.

Thanks for the help. I will tackle it again this weekend.
