My first Chevy was a 1942 six cylinder pick-up, I think it may have been a 235 but I am no longer sure. I got it when I was sixteen and it was built in the year I was born. I did my first ring and bearing job on a Ford tractor when I was twelve. Over the years I have gone from Chevys to old VW's then through a Japanese phase and now retired I have returned to three Chevys. My wife and I now have two Suburbans, an 89 2500 retired fire chief's vehicle with a high performance 454 and a 96 2500 4x4 with a 454 that is like new. The third one is a 97 Silverado 350 extend cab that currently has the engine out waiting for me to get the time and money to rebuild.
I also have a 1964 Case 430 with a 188 cubic inch diesel engine that I play with but that is another list.
I retired from Auburn University a couple of years ago and live in La Place, Alabama, a place that is no longer an official place we have ten acres with a house that was built back in 1840. Our bedroom was the first western medical office in this part of the country, more people have probably died in our bedroom than about any other place around here.
Despite believing that automatic transmissions should have been limited to the physically handicapped, all three Chevys have automatics and one of my learning projects I am looking at in the near future is putting a rebuild kit in the Silverado's before I put the engine back in.
Guess that will do for an introduction.

Welcome to the site! Shouldn't have any problem with power from the Sub's. Your first truck was built 4 years before I was born, so I know from whence you came.
