Complete dash replacement?
So I have a 1979 chevy 1/2 to custom deluxe 2wd standard cab, and my question is can the entire dash be taken out, from the firewall to the seering wheel and possibly be replaced with a newer dash? Just lookng for resources to try and figure out if this is possible or not and what years might interchange with that. Thanks for any help.

The better ? would be can u make the factory gauges in the new dash work. i think with some fiberglass and sanding u could fit any dash in anything but them gauge pods might be tricky good luck with it

Given enough time and money, anything is possible....
The dashboard on the 70s/80s Suburbans is made of metal welded to the firewall and covered in plastic and padding. About the only thing you can easily hope to do is install the plastic dashboard pieces from an '87 or older, as they'll likely have similar metal stampings underneath.
Somewhere I have a picture of my old '86 Suburban with the dashboard exposed (I was installing factory cruise-control and a new stereo). I'll try to dig it up and scan it and post it.Kirk
