2002 suburban, non bose system. how can i get the sub out to replace. any help would be appreciated.

Well, it should be just pulling out whatever interior panels are covering it. However, knowing how Bose is though, that sub is probably one with a really weird impedance and rms rating. You most probably will not be able to stick some off-the-shelf sub in there.

most shallow mount subs will work in the bose factory slot. Pioneer makes a very good replacement and they carry them at most radio shops or even best buy
It is not a Bose system, i just need to know how to get the sub out,and how to take off the cover or back
panel.
