I've always run them from the battery. You can usually use existing holes in the firewall where the wire harness passes through. Worse case scenario, you drill a hole and put a grommet in there.

I guess you could also find a 12v ignition power source at the fuse box, but I'd be a little concerned of over taxing the circuit.

thanks for the tip, I thought about doing that but there is absolutley not one space for this wire it's 4 gauge so it's reasonably small. I did find an open space in the fender but I'd have to run the wire through the door and do not want to do that. but it may be my only option

I know you said you don't want to drill a hole through the fire wall but to my knowledge there's no other way to get a wire inside, unless you want to drill a hole through the bottom of the body somewhere.

If you don't want to take on the task of drilling a hole then may I suggest you take $20 and head to your local garage/mechanic. I'm sure they'd have the tool(s) and expertise to drill a hole for you and put in a grommet to ready it for you to stick a wire through.

    Good luck with your project,
    Steven

Oh yeah I know what your talking about with the front fender, I was going to do that with my off-road lights but the harness was too thick to run through the door. That is a spot that very few people actually know about too, that's to bad you can't go through there it's a very clean way to run wire through the cab into the engine compartment. I would tell you how I routed my wires without drilling holes, but it's no good for your speaker wire. Good luck................AMY

Drill the hole, Get a grommet. It's the proper way to do it. Make sure you find a location that's easily accessible and is in a location the the wire can be hidden directly after coming out of the firewall. I did this in my Nissan frontier when I installed the amp. I used a little more cable to route it neatly and right, but it was worth the effort. You couldn't see a wire in the truck at all.
