    Default MPG Boost

Hey everyone I'm looking for some input on what to do for getting better MPG. I have gotten an intake replaced the muffler and switched over to synthetic oil and now I get around 12 to 13 mpg in the city. What are the next things I should get ? I'm looking into getting a programmer but what else is there ? What does getting a new maf do ? I'm just looking for any input on what to do. Thanks!

Well, just with my experience so far, getting a throttle body spacer will increase your low end torque, and give you better mpg with stopping and going. But beware with the spacer, airaid poweraid spacer will not it with the K&N 57 series. As you have the same body style as my truck. Just try and clean the engine out with some seafoam might help as well.

I really like how Scangauge influences my driving. If you start watching that mpg changing, foot does the rest by itself. I think, there are other, cheaper habit modifying devices out on the market, but all of them show you your instantaneous mpg, so you become aware of that gas pedal more.

oh, btw - cheap gas=poor mpg. go back to Chevron, truck is tuned to it as standard gas.

A Granatelli MAF will get you 7-8 more horsepower, and that is about it. I had one on my old 2004 2500HD with the 6.0 and 4.10 gears, they advertise 1-2 mpg better than stock but there is no proof to that and my driving style is too harsh to gain anything anyways.

Well first of all there are definitely power adders that can increase mpg. period. end of sentence.
    Turbo, supercharger, exhaust, dyno-tune, etc.

A new set of spark plugs will ignite the fuel/air mix more efficiently. Translated---> You will have a more complete and instantaneous ignition closer to the top of your power stroke. Basicly getting more power from the gas you would be using anyway.

Fans---> I can't speak with as much authority on this subject but I believe I have the concept down... Older engines were set up so that the pistons would churn the crank the crank would spin both the flywheel/transmission and the water pump, harmonic balancer, and the fan.
Newer engines comonly use electric fans thus creating less drag on the crank. The electric fans are controlled by thermostat temperatures and actually only spin under power when they are needed for cooling. Hopefully someone else will come along and verify or debunk my thinking.
Honestly the best way to save on gas is to try not to drive Or to carpool. Sorry but short of driving a hybrid, there just isn't one change you can make that will make your MPG skyrocket.

Yeah i hear what you mean, i'm trying to carpool more. Im just looking for stuff thats going to push me into the 15mpg range around town. I drive around town pretty much like 80% of the time, driving on the freeway every so often and i always get 12-14 mpg, and it would be nice to have a guarrenteed 15 mpg at least. I know everyone is going to say get a chip/programmer, so i'll ask questions about that in another post.

What are Halo spark plugs? I'm getting ready to replace my plugs, and have wondered what to get.
